The main characteristics of reptiles are:
- They are vertebrates.
- They are oviparous, they are born from eggs.
- They have scales and dry skin.
- They breathe with lungs.
- They can be carnivores (eat other animals or meat), herbivores (eat plants) or omnivores (eat both).
- They can swim, run, walk, climb and slither.
- They live in the water or in land.
- Some of them like turtles have a shell.

- They are vertebrates.
- They are oviparous, they are born from eggs.
- They have moist skin.
- They breathe with gills when they are babies and with lungs when they are adults.
- They can be carnivores (eat other animals or meat), herbivores (eat plants) or omnivores (eat both).
- They can swim, run, walk or jump.
- They live in the water or in land.
- Some of them change their body. This change is called METAMORPHOSIS.
